Death in the New Forest by Linda Mather

Death in the New Forest by Linda Mather is a new novel and the first in a new series set, as you may have guessed, in the New Forest area of England. Elinor is the Superintendent and has just moved to CID in the south of England and Nancy is a newly promoted Detective Constable in Elinors' team. 

In the area, still in Elinor and Nancy's first week in heir new roles, there is a suspicious death at a local spa hotel. This validates both womens reasons for taking their new jobs as they want to work on major cases in the area - a murder is the best option, without sounding ghoulish.

The police team investigate the crime, and even a few more crimes at the same time, and find new suspects then rule them out until finally they get a break in the case. It's a twisty turny police procedural and is very well written with text that flows and realistic dialogue. I will be looking forward to book 2 in this series. A good read and a 5 star book!
